Death Note: Light might actually be able to come back

Death note truly was a marvelous anime. With all the plot twists and the insane storyline, it makes it place among the most loved animes in the history.

At the end of the anime, we saw Light die of a heart attack. Ryuk killed light off because he thought it would be too boring to sit back and see Light rot in prison, and anyway it was part of the deal that when the time came, Light would be killed by Ryuk himself.

This theory is about an insane plot twist that would explain how Light could possibly come back and continue his reign as Kira. This theory is a combination of a few other theories, and here we go.

1. The person who touches the Death Note for the first time, becomes a Shinigami after their death.

Now, as quite popularly stated, it is possible that the person who first comes in contact with a Death Note when it comes to the human world will be reincarnated as a Shinigami after death. To back this up, we get to see a new Shinigami wearing clothes similar to Light prior to his death, and which are uncommon for a Shinigami. Fans believe that this new Shinigami is actually Light himself, with his memories a little buffed up.

2. The mystery of BB

In a non-canon spinoff novel Death Note: Another Note, a new character is introduced who goes by the name BB. This character is the antagonist of this novel and possesses a weird ability. He is able to know the exact time of the death of his victims before he messes with their bodies. Sound familiar? Well, BB has the Shinigami eyes. What's weird here is that BB never got in contact with a Shinigami. In fact, he never even used a Death Note. It is explained in the novel that BB had Shinigami eyes right from his birth.

This is quite uncommon because it is not just a birth defect. It is a magical pair of eyes, which can only be obtained by signing a deal with a Shinigami. Then how did BB get these eyes? Well, theory says that BB was likely a Shinigami in his previous life. After his death, which is absolutely possible as it is stated in the anime that Shinigami can actually die if they fall in love with a human, and the fact that they have a life span, BB got reincarnated as a human.

This might be counted as a punishment to the Shinigamis, as what could be a better way to punish the beings who have been killing off humans their entire life? Throw them back into the human world, but this time, they will have a deadly lifetime. The reincarnated one will still retain his Shinigami eyes, which will torture him for the rest of his lives, forcing him to see when their loved ones will die and taken away from them.

3. Kira's Revival

Compiling the above two theories, we can create a whole new ending to Death Note. Light, after his death, turns into a Shinigami. He then has a death note of his own, but that isn't enough. Light still needs a body capable of interaction with humans and the human world. So if he wants, he can totally return back to a human. But will he want to live a normal life after coming this far?

Well, Light has his own Death Note now, so Light could hide this same Death Note in the human world, and then come back to the Shinigami world and die. With enough planning and some crazy logic, Light could arrange things so that his reincarnated self would come across this hidden Death Note at some point in life. When he would touch this Death Note, his memories would come back and Kira would rise again. Light would come back.

With enough planning, Light could keep this cycle going infinitely. He could pop up in different parts of the world, each time with a different face and identity, and continue his reign as Kira. No matter what, he would come back. And this would make far more sense now, because light would actually be a 'god' now. The God of the New World.
